Greg Podgorski Named USU College of Science Associate Dean
Greg Podgorski, associate professor in Utah State University’s Department of Biology, has been named associate dean for undergraduate programs and services for the university’s College of Science. He succeeds Richard Mueller, who recently retired from the post after 37 years of service with the university. Podgorski assumes his new post July 1.
“We’re delighted to welcome Greg to this new position,” says USU Science Dean Maura Hagan. “Greg brings a wealth of experience, expertise and enthusiasm, which will greatly benefit our students.”
Podgorski’s duties will focus on undergraduate student affairs, including oversight of recruitment, advising, instruction, curriculum, retention and undergraduate research. He will also chair the college’s Science Unwrapped public outreach program.
“I look forward to taking an active role in student recruitment, especially recruitment of underrepresented minorities,” says Podgorski, who joined USU in 1988. “My focus will also be data-driven tools to encourage student participation and success, as well as promoting opportunities in undergraduate research.”
