Murder hornets not a threat to Utah

Asian Giant Hornet

News of a giant 2" hornet that kills honey bees being found in Washington state and British Columbia has caused alarm but USU Biology professors Lori Wilson, Invasive Species Survey Specialist and Joseph Wilson, Evolutionary Ecologist at the Tooele campus both agree that Utah is most likely too dry and the elevation is too high for the hornets to survive. So even if they were introduced here they wouldn't be able to establish and survive.
