Industrial Hygiene

Industrial Hygienists are employed in almost all industry and manufacturing segments as well as government. IH’s in private industry and manufacturing work to protect employees from workplace health hazards and injuries and in compliance with government regulatory requirements. Federal, state, and local government have jurisdiction over health and safety in all manufacturing and industry. Some government organizations are: OSHA, NIOSH, MSHA, DOD, DOE, and EPA. Industrial hygienists are often employed by risk management organizations like Workers Compensation companies (WCF in SLC, SAIF in Oregon, etc).

Many of our students also go on to complete health professional degrees in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy.

Our Industrial Hygiene Program has placed 100% of our students in summer internships prior to graduation and nearly 100% career placement over the last 5 years.

Public Health Education

Public Health Educators are often employed with state and local health departments, as well as social assistance industries. Many also are employed in schools and community centers. These professionals promote health and wellness to the communities they serve. Examples of educational programs include cancer risk, sexually transmitted diseases, smoking related issues, healthy diets, and proper installation of infant car seats.

Many of our students also go on to complete specialized graduate degrees in public health as they aim to work for national organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Public Health Associations continue to expect a 18-26% projected growth and need for Public Health Educators in the coming years. Our Public Health Education program has placed 100% of our students in summer internships over the last 5 years.

Environmental Health

Environmental Health Specialists are often employed with state and local health departments to investigate community health concerns. Many are employed to evaluate water and air quality issues, day care and correctional facility health evaluations, health inspections of a restaurant, and mosquito and tick control programs. These professionals are involved in educational campaigns, program development, regulation, and public health preventative measures.

Many of our students also go on to complete specialized graduate degrees in public health or health professional degrees in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy.
